Hey, I think he’s talking about us!

Last August, outdoor writer, Scott Haugen once again visited our salmon fishing camp on Alaska’s Egegik River. Scott ranks the silver salmon fishing on the remote Egegik River as the best he’s experienced in Alaska, and he’s been fishing in The Last Frontier for nearly 30 years. Scott has been coming up silver salmon fishing with us at Becharof Lodge, on the Egegik River, for over a decade, and he always brings new gear and approaches to try out.

In his January 2019 column of Salmon, Trout, Steelheader magazine, Scott highlights how he used BnR Tackle’s Soft Beads to find high numbers of silver salmon on the Egegik River, and other rivers in Alaska. Yes, the “Ray” he mentions is our Ray!…cook Ray, who loves fishing Soft Beads, be it for silver salmon in Alaska, or winter steelhead in Washington.

This story shows just how fun it can be fishing for silver salmon in remote Alaska. Anglers coming to our Becharof Lodge on the Egegik River often use over a half-dozen techniques to catch these hard fighting coho salmon, and you can bet we’ll be doing more bead fishing in coming seasons!
